October 2006
I have gotten a few emails asking how Heather is doing, so I thought an update was due. Heather is doing excellent. She is talking so well and has the best sense of humor. She is beginning Occupational therapy at a new center tomorrow. She was referred here by Early Intervention. E.I said that they aren't equipped to handle her OT needs and they said that these are the best people anywhere who deal with Sensory Integration Dysfunction. She is taking gymnastics to help build up strength in her muscles and she loves it. She has no fear. She will walk across the 6 foot balance beam like it is nothing. I have been looking into preschool options for her for next fall. Early Intervention would like to see her get into the Special Ed preschool in our town, but spots are tough to get. I am looking for a few back up choices in case she doesn't get in. Heather has been feeling great and loves playing outside. She has taken up a fascination with all things Disney, so we bought her a Minnie Mouse costume for Halloween. She has already worn it many times. Heather's PT was cut back and we haven't had many Drs appointments. We are both enjoying the free time. She has made amazing progress the past 6 months and I know she will just keep improving.
